GAME ONE BOX SCORE

GAME TWO BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG—Alyson Taylor's (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) two-run, walk-off homer lifted the Bloomsburg University softball team to a 6-4, eight inning win over Kutztown University and a sweep of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies won the opener, 4-3, by scoring two runs in their final at-bat.

Bloomsburg, trailing 4-2 after two innings in the nightcap, tied the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double by Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton). The Huskies had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh, but wasted a one-out triple by Kristina Tice (Port Jervis, NY/Minisink Valley). In the top of the eighth inning, Kutztown had runners at first and third with no outs, but Bloomsburg pitcher Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) escaped the jam without allowing a run.

In the bottom of the eighth, Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) singled to leadoff the inning and moved to second on a pickoff attempt. Taylor then blasted a long home run to centerfield giving Bloomsburg the victory.

Reed picked up the win striking out 10 and not allowing a walk. She also went 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

In the opener, the Huskies trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning despite RBI singles from Krupiewski and Lisa Bohner (Northumberland/Shikellamy). Then in the home seventh the Huskies loaded the bases with one out when Krupiewski singled, driving in two runs, and giving Bloomsburg the victory.

Krupiewski finished 3-4 with three RBI, while Jennifer Miller (Muir/Williams Valley) went 2-3 with a run scored. Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) earned the victory with 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Bloomsburg, now 20-8, 3-1 in the PSAC East, plays at West Chester on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
